It mainly takes a lot of passion for a person to achieve a stable career in his true field of interest. This is absolutely the case of prominent photograph enthusiast, Dr. Mark Antman. Although he is a graduate of science courses like Biology and Chemistry, he decided to follow his devotion for taking the most artistic and highest quality of photos. Consequentially, he has achieved tremendous success in this endeavor, especially as a founder and one of the primary photo experts in The Image Works. This independent image studio was launched in 1983 through his collaboration with Alan Carey, his friend and fellow enthusiast in photography.
The Image Works is currently based in the heart of the famous Catskill Mountains in Woodstock, New York. This image studio has served as the official distributor of license for the use of images in internet contents, publishing materials, documentary films, and visual or print advertising media. Under the leadership of Dr. Mark Antman and Alan Carey, this agency is composed of highly skilled photographers, editorial specialists, research staffs, customer representatives, and other photo professionals. Each member of The Image Works undergoes regular training and seminar to ensure that he can work along with his superiors and co-members, and also to the agency’s clients.
It was in 2001 when the image studio officially diverted its business to exclusive digital review and supply system. Both analog and digital files are undertaken in each in-house research, but the photos submitted for review to clients are in the format of digital proofs or lightboxes. A year after that, Alan Carey finally ended his service for The Image Works, which moved Antman to pursue the legacy of this agency by himself with the help of his reliable staffs.
In the last few years, The Image Works has been able to sustain its tremendous success in making large scale acquisitions of notable photo archives and institutions. The exceptional skills of Dr. Mark Antman as a leader have served as the agency’s backbone for its consistency in expanding its business operations. This image agency has been declared as the official North American distributor of the rights of photo groups like the Topham Picture Library, Syracuse Newspapers, Charles Walker Collection, The British National Trust Photo Library, The Science & Society Picture Library, and The Heritage Image Partnership. Other archives entrusted to The Image Works include The Mary Evans Picture Library, The Lebrecht Music & Arts Photo Library, and Roger-Vollet Collection of France.
